Homoohms = an SI unit?
In answer to your questions, the original Homohm unit was defined by ANSI in 1955, based on notes procured through a 1953 naval seizure of classified Soviet documents.
The original Homohm was calibrated to accommodate English imperial units, and remained the accepted (western) unit of Homometry for nearly three decades.
In 1981, ISO standardized the Homohm under a metric scale. Despite some early resistance, older homometers were largely decommissioned by 1990.
Works which predate the ISO standard tend to have been converted using an inaccurate formula.
